Learning of Tajweed
Tajweed is precisely means to beautify. In the context of the Recitation of the Holy Quran, Tajweed refers to the correct Pronunciation of the letters and applying the various rules of recitation. The importance of Tajweed cannot be overemphasized. The recitation of the Holy Quran in namaz is compulsory. Often, due to not reciting the Holy Quran with Tajweed, the salaah is affected. It is therefore necessary to learn Tajweed so that the Holy Quran may be recited correctly. Arabic is a very delicate language.
A slight mispronunciation can completely change the meaning. The word Qalb means heart. If the Qaaf in Qalb is not pronounced correctly and instead, it is pronounced as a kaaf, the meaning changes to “dog!” In Surah Kausar the word “wan Har” means sacrifice. If the Haa is not pronounced correctly the meaning changes to “scold!” It is thus obvious that the rules of Tajweed must be applied in the recitation of the Holy Quran. There are many detailed rules of tajweed which take a long time to study.
However this booklet contains the most basic rules which, if well-read thoroughly, will enable a learner on the Maktab level to recite the Holy Quran correctly. It must nonetheless be remembered that the correct application of the rules of tajweed depends upon listening to its application by someone who has educated how to recite the Holy Quran with Tajweed. Thus the teacher must clearly recite the various samples to the children, tell about importance the particular rule that is being applied there in. The children must then be complete to repeatedly practice the examples in the book with additional examples from the Holy Quran in order to fully understanding the application of the rule.
Learn Glorious Quran with correct accent & articulation
Islamic brothers! Remember! Reciter will receive Divine blessing when he would know how to pronounce it correctly. People, in our society, do not avoid paying exorbitant fees for learning worldly education such as English language, computer and different other courses etc., but unfortunately, being drifted away from Deen and learn Holy Quran they do not have time to learn Glorious Quran with correct accent. Remember! Those who do not recite Glorious Quran with correct elocution commit sins instead of earning reward.
Sayyiduna Anas Bin Malik R.A has stated:
Many reciters of the Quran are cursed by the Quran (due to reciting incorrectly).’ (Ihya-ul-Ulum)
A’la Hadrat, Imam Ahmad Raza Khan has stated:
Learning of correct pronunciations of the Glorious Quran to such an extent that one letter sounds correct and distinct from the other one is mandatory upon us; Salah becomes invalid without it. (Fatawa Razawiyyah, 253)
Further, he adds: ‘Undoubtedly! Elocution of Quranic letters should be maintained to the extent that the reciter recites according to the rules of pronunciation and refrains from incorrect pronunciation; it is mandatory.’ (Fatawa Razawiyyah, pp: 343)
Sadr-ush-Shari’ah, Badr-ut-Tariqah, ‘Allamah Maulana Mufti Muhammad Amjad Ali Azami has stated:
“Whoever does not recite correct letters, it is compulsory upon to work hard day and night in order to improve his pronunciation of the Quranic letters. (Bahar-e-Shari’at, 570/1)
